The Front Cover of My Magazine
The front cover of my magazine shows a picture of a student from Wyke stood in front of the entrance to the college building. I felt this would be a good place to have on the front cover of my magazine. There were a number of reasons why I did this. One was because it shows off the new impressive college building. I felt this was an important thing to do because for anyone who does not attend Wyke, seeing my front cover will immediately let them know about the impressive building we have here at Wyke. Another reason why I chose the picture at the front of the college was because I had the idea of using the college logo on the front of the building as the masthead in my college magazine. This immediately lets the reader know what the magazine is about and which college it is associated with. I felt it was important that the student on the front cover of my magazine was dressed fairly smartly and looked happy. This is because he is representing the college so he needs to look as if he has a fun time at college. I made the student in the picture hold onto some folders and books to show that he is studying at Wyke. The sub lines on my front cover tell people some of the things which are included in my magazine. For example interviews which are in the magazine and events happening outside of college like the Wyke Party.
Advertising and Virtual Version Of The Magazine
There a number of ways in which I would advertise my magazine. One way I could advertise my magazine is by simply putting up posters around college saying that there is a college magazine for sale and the price which I am selling it for. Another way I could advertise it is by setting up a viral campaign. In this I could advertise the magazine on the college website. I was even thinking that you could set up a virtual version of the magazine online. Students could inform me that they want the virtual copy of the magazine and I could either email to them or put it on the moodle system for them to read. I was thinking that the virtual copy of my magazine could have a few differences to it, compared to the written version. For example the virtual version could have videos from the football or rugby matches, or videos of dance routines which students from Wyke have performed.
Overall my magazine would give college students an interesting outlook on college life. They would be able to find out information of upcoming events, for example parties and meetings. The magazine would also offer them the chance to read interviews with members of staff and other pupils from Wyke. This could be sports players or students simply talking about what they think of Wyke and the courses they are studying.
